There are always certain books that seem to fly right off the library shelves. Those are the ones where multiple copies will need to be purchased.
Which are the popular books at your library?
While some titles are a bigger hit in certain countries and not in others, there are surprising favorites that can cross borders and span oceans. Take Becoming by Michelle Obama. It is the most popular book of 2018 in France, Spain, Denmark, Norway, Finland, and Greece, countries that are not exactly neighbors to the United States.
In fact, American politics seems to be a popular topic these days. The most popular print book of 2018 worldwide was Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House by Michael Wolff. If you work at a library in Australia, you probably couldn’t keep the Harry Potter books on your shelves for very long. As the most borrowed books of 2018, these UK imports are in high demand for Australian library goers.
The three most read books in the world of all time, however, are The Holy Bible, Quotations from Chairman Mao Tse-Tung, and of course, Harry Potter.
The beneficial effects of books on the mind and body have been well studied so regardless of which book you choose, reading helps keep your brain fit and active.
